1 c. syrup
1 c. sour milk
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Mix all ingredients together. Pour into a greased and floured pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until done.

This cake is named “War Cake” because it was developed during the war when sugar was scarce, so syrup was used.
