1/4 cup sugar
1 tbsp corn starch
1/4 tsp salt
2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg (slightly beaten)
2 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, corn starch and salt in double boiler top. Mix in egg yolks or whole egg. Gradually blend in milk. Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly, until mixture is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. (Do not overcook.) Remove from heat. Cool. Mix in vanilla. Chill.
