Bread Pudding/Aunt Sylvia Chalupsky Recipe

Ingredients: 2 cups milk ¼ cup butter or margarine ½ cup sugar 4 cups stale bread (tear into small pieces) 2 eggs ¼ tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon ½ cup raisins ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:1. Scald milk, add butter and sugar (do not boil) Mix well and cool a little 2. Pour over bread which has been mixed with beaten eggs, salt and cinnamon 3. Stir in raisins and nuts just until blended 4. Pour into greased 2 quart baking dish (I use a square 9x9 baking dish) 5. Bake 45 minutes at 350º Can be served with nutmeg sauce
NUTMEG SAUCE 1. Combine 1 cup sugar with 2 Tbsp cornstarch...set aside 2. Boil 2 cups water and slowly add sugar and cornstarch, stirring until it thickens 3. Boil 1 minute and remove from heat. 4. Serve over warm bread pudding. |

Notes: Your Grandma Marcella and Aunt Sylvia were the Iwanski sisters and close friends! They married Grandpa Bob Jablonski and Bill Chalupsky who were first cousins and best friends. Grandpa's mother was Wilhelmina Polak Jablonski. She was a sister of Bill Chalupsky's mother Frances Polak Chalupsky. They were two of a family of nine Polak women!!! Margo, you come from a long line of beautiful, strong, and capable women! You can do and accomplish anything you set your mind to do with your life!
