1 cup raisin
1 cup water
1 cup shortening
1 3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs (beaten)
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powders
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a sauce pan cook raisins in the water. Cook for 3 minutes. Set aside and cool. Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.
Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Mix raisins.
Place by tablespoons on the cookie sheet and bake 12 to 14 minutes.
