Personal Notes:
I remember summer Igo family gatherings when we made a "freezer of cream" with the old fashioned churn-style freezer. As the ice cream froze, it became harder and harder to crank, but the taste was worth the hard work!

About 10 years ago I discovered the Cuisinart indoor ice cream maker which has a gel-filled canister that you keep in the freezer until ready to make your frozen dessert. The recipe book that came with it, however, didn't have the good, old-fashioned country recipe that I remembered as a kid. So, I searched cookbook after cookbook until I found a recipe and "tweaked it" to my tastes.

Enjoy!
