Cookie dough:
1 c brown sugar, packed
½ c butter, soft
1 tsp root beer extract
½ tsp baking soda
1 egg
¼ c water
1¾ c flour
½ tsp salt

Glaze:
2 c powdered sugar
⅓ c butter, soft
1½ tsp root beer extract
2 T hot water

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, butter and egg until fluffy. Stir in remaining ingredients until smooth. Cover dough and refrigerate at least one hour. While dough is in fridge, make the glaze!
Roll into balls and bake at 400º on a greased baking sheet.
Place on a cooling rack with waxed paper underneath. Once cookies are cool, spoon glaze over cookies.

This originally came from a cookbook my grandma gave to me when I was a little girl (E1 age). My daughters loved these as a special treat while growing up. They bring on sweetness overload, so beware!
