Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 (3oz) cream cheese, softened
1 egg
2 c. flour
tsp baking powder
c. ground blanched almonds
2 tsp grated lemon peel
1 jar seedless raspberry jam
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl, combine first 4 ingredients and beat until light and fluffy. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, baking powder, almonds and lemon peel; mix at low speed until well blended. Shape dough into 2 disks. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate 2 hours for easier handling. Heat oven to 350. On lightly floured surface, roll out 1 disk of dough at a time to ⅛ inch thickness. Keep remaining dough refrigerated (dough will be stiff). Cut with floured 3-inch round or hear shaped cutter. In half of the cookies, cut and remove 1-inch round, heart or holiday shaped hole from center. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-9 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Cool 1 minute and remove to wire rack. Cool completely and spread thin layer of jam to within inch of edge of cookie. Top with cut-out cookies; gently press. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. If desired, add additional jam in center.

Personal Notes:
These are a Valentine's Day favorite! I first made them in 2008 but in 2019 I sent them in care packages to you kids and grandma for Valentines. In February of 2021 Amelia and I spent a wonderful day together baking and she brought these back for her roommates in DC. #happyheartsday
