Irish Soda Bread Recipe

4 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
3/4c sugar
1 stick sweet butter
1/2 c dark raisins
1 1/4 c + 2 tbsp buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Sift dry ingredients into large mixing bowl.
Add butter, raisins and buttermilk and mix.
Add flour if dough is too sticky.
Turn on lightly floured surface and knead for 3-5 minutes or until firm.
Split dough in half and shape into loaves.
Place on buttered and floured baking sheets.
Brush with buttermilk and dust with flour
Score top with an X.
Bake abut 1 hour until golden brows.
Cool.
