1 head red cabbage
1/3 - /12 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 tsp. allspice
4 whole cloves
1/2 c. vinegar
1/4 c. butter

Directions:
Directions:
1. Remove any wilted outer leaves from
cabbage. Rinse and cut into quarters,
discard core and coarsely shred.

2. Place cabbage into a heavy saucepan
and add boiling, salted water to cover.
(1 tsp. salt per quart of water.)

3. To the cabbage, add the brown sugar,
allspice and cloves. Cover loosely and
boil at a moderate rate 8-12 minutes or
until cabbage is just tender.

4. Remove from heat and drain. Add vinegar
and butter. Toss together lightly to mix.
