2 cups of water
1 ¼ cups of milk
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of quick-cooking grits (not instant)
¼ cup of butter

Directions:
Directions:
In a small saucepan, bring water, milk, and salt to boil, stirring occasionally. Slowly stir grits to boiling mixture. Stir continuously, and thoroughly until grits are well mixed. Reduce heat to simmer, cover with lid, cook for 25 to 30 minutes, and stir frequently (add more water if necessary). Grits are done when they have the consistency of cream of wheat. Stir in butter. Serve with fruit, or as part of meal.
