1 c. Shortening, half butter for flavor
1 c. Powdered Sugar
½ tsp. Salt
1¼ c. Almonds, ground
2 c. Flour, sifted
1 tbsp. Water
1 tbsp. Vanilla
Powdered Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, powdered sugar and salt. Add almonds. Blend in flour gradually and mix thoroughly. Add water and vanilla mixing thoroughly with fork. Shape into balls or crescents using 1 level tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Bake at 325º for 12-15 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm.
