4 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
3 T. butter
2 1/2 t. B.P.
1 t. caraway seed
1 t. salt
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. b. s.
1 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients. Cream sugar, eggs, butter,then add dry ingredients. Mix in liquids. Grease 2 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Put 1/2 of stiff dough in each pan. Cut a cross on the top of each and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for 35 minutes.

Instead of buttermilk you may use 1 1/2 cup of regular milk with 1 T. vinegar. Let sit for a minute before using. Same results.
