4 ONLY egg yolks
4 tablespoons cold water

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

5 egg whites (BEATEN STIFF)
some salt
some vanilla

CREAM CUSTARD FILLING

CHOCOLATE FROSTING

Beat[ egg yolks and cold water] stiffly

And add [sugar flour and baking powder]

fold [5 stiffly beaten egg whites] into mixture

Add salt and vanilla

Bake in two layers

Use cream custard filling and chocolate frosting.

Mom made this almost every year for my birthday because she said it was my favorite. It was fine, but wasn't actually my favorite. She meant well!

No amounts are given for salt or vanilla. Probably a pinch of salt and a teaspoon of vanilla, but I'm guessing.

The recipe book referred to custard filling and chocolate frosting, but these were not included on the page.
