1 cup chopped dates
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup hot water
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cup flour
2 tablespoon cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 small package chocolate chip nuts
Directions:
Directions:
combine hot water, dates, and baking soda and let cool.
cream shortening and sugar.
add eggs and mix well
add dry ingredients with date mixture and add vanilla
pour into 9x13 inch pan
sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts
bake at 350 for 40 minutes
