2 cups raisins
1 cup water
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. allspice
¼ tsp. nutmeg
4 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
Nuts, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Boil 2 cups of raisins and 1 cup of water. Cream sugar, shortening, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg until smooth and creamy. Add 1 tsp. baking powder to cooled raisins and add to creamy mixture. Add flour, salt, baking powder and nuts if desired. Mix thoroughly and drop by tablespoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Raisin cookies were one of Grandma B's favorites to make, not so much for her kids, even though this is a really good recipe!
