1 cup onions finely chopped (optional)
4 cups very finely diced potatoes
2 cans (6 ½ oz.) clams and juice
¾ cup butter
1½ tsp salt
few grains pepper
1 quart half and half
dash of curry
6 pieces of crisp cooked bacon, chopped into pieces

Directions:
Directions:
Add enough water to barely cover potatoes and simmer covered over medium heat until potatoes are barely tender. In the meantime, melt butter. Add flour and blend. Cook, stirring constantly. Add half and half cream gradually and making a rue. Stir with wire whip until smooth and thick (this is important). Add the undrained clams and a dash of curry powder and heat through. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add a little bacon grease, and sprinkle in bacon pieces at the very last before serving.
