1 c. Water
2 c. Sugar
flavoring
food coloring
string
popsicle stick
pint glass jar

Directions:
Directions:
Wet string. Roll moistened string in sugar. Tie the sugar coated string around the popsicle stick and place string in the jar (make sure string doesn't touch the bottom of the jar) The stick will set on the top of the jar.

Bring water to a boil. Stir in sugar. Continue cooking until candy thermometer reads 240ºF. Remove from heat. Add food coloring or flavoring at this point. Carefully pour solution into the glass jar. Set jar in a place where it won't get disturbed. You will notice crystals forming within a few hours. Rock candy will be ready to eat between a day and a week from the time it was cooked. Simply remove the string from the jar and enjoy your rock candy.
