1 1/2 cups sugar
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
1 cup fig preserves
1 cup pecans (chopped)


Icing:
1 cup sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
1 tbsp white syrup
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp soda
1 stick butter

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Sift all dry ingredients into a large bowl. Add oil, buttermilk, vanilla and 3 eggs. Mix together well. Add fig preserves and pecans. Once mixed well pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.

Icing:
Put all ingredients into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour over warm cake.
