4 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp nutmeg
1 c shortening or butter
2 c sugar
2 egg yolks and 1 whole egg
1 c sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

In a large bowl; sift flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg together; set aside.

In a large mixing bowl; beat on medium speed; shortening/butter sugar, egg yolks and egg; until smooth.

Gradually add in flour mixture, beating until well combined. Add another 1/2 c flour, if necessary, for easy handling.

With a spatula form a dough ball. Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Divide dough into three parts. Refrigerate unused portions until ready to use.

On a floured surface; roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut out cookies. Place on un-greased cookie sheets. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned at edges. Cool 1-2 minutes on cookie sheet then transfer to wire racks to cool completely .
