1 large onion
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 (28oz.) cans tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 (12oz.) can tomato paste
1 (12oz.) can water
1 tablespoon oregano
1½ tablespoon basil
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1½ teaspoons salt
Lasagne:
1 large onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1½ lbs. ground beef and 1½ lb. Italian sausage
1 lb. mushrooms, sliced
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 lb. mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
24 oz. ricotta cheese
1 (16oz.) box lasagne noodles, parboiled and drained

Directions:
For the sauce: Saute onion and garlic in the olive oil in a large skillet until transparent. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer 3 to 4 hours.
For the meat sauce: Saute the onion in a small amount of olive oil. Add garlic, ground beef, sausage and mushrooms. Cook until meat is browned. Cool. Salt and pepper to taste. Combine the cheeses and mix in eggs. Preheat oven to 350º. Spread a small amount of the sauce in the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking pan. Line it with lasagne noodles, layer half the meat mixture, one third of the sauce and one half cheese mixture. Repeat with noodles, meat, sauce and cheese. Place remaining noodles on top and spread remaining sauce. Bake for 1 hour. Additional mozzarella and Parmesan cheese can be added to top. Enjoy!
