6 tablespoons butter (salted)
1 1/2 cups brown sugar (packed, light or dark)
1/3 cup plus 1/2 cup cream (heavy, divided use)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:

1) In a heavy saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, and 1/3 cup of the heavy cream. Cook over low heat, stirring, until the mixture is smooth.

2) Increase the heat to medium-low. Cook, stirring, until the mixture begins to simmer. Continue cooking without stirring for 3 minutes.

3) Remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir the remaining 1/2 cup of cream into the sauce mixture. Pour the sauce into another bowl or cup and stir in the vanilla extract.

Set the sauce aside for 30 minutes. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
