1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter
3 Cups Sugar
5 large eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons grated Lemon peel (divided)
1 1/2 teaspoons grated Lime peel (divided)
3/4 cup lemon-lime soda (7-up) (plus 2 Tablespoons for icing)

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º. Line 2 9" round cake pans with parchment paper.

whisk salt and flour together.

Beat butter in large bowl until fluffy.
Gradually beat in sugar.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then
beat in 1 teaspoon each of lemon and lime peel.

mix in flour in 4 additions alternately with soda in 3 additions.

Divide batter into cake pans.

Bake until top is golden and toothpick in center comes out clean. 60-70 minutes.

cool in pan for 5 minutes, then turn out onto wire rack to cool completely.

(Optional) Combine powdered sugar and remaining grated peel and 2 T soda to make icing , drizzle over cake.
