5 quarts air popped popcorn (about 20 cups or three air popper batches)

1 cup plus 2 Tablespoons corn syrup
2 1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup water
1/3 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 Tablespoons butter

Directions:
Directions:
In a large sauce pan, mix corn syrup, sugar, water and salt. Place over low heat and stir until mixture begins to boil. Stop stirring and allow mixture to cook until candy thermometer measures 270 degrees (hard ball stage).

Mix in butter and food coloring. Pour over popcorn. Mix until corn is well covered.

Using your hands, form into balls and place on waxed paper to cool.

Grandma and Grandpa Hamilton would have all the grandkids over every year around Christmas to make popcorn balls and eat Domino’s pizza cut into squares while parents went Christmas shopping. A much loved tradition!
