1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. molasses
1 egg
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
1 t. ground ginger
1 t. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. gf flour blend of your choice
1/2 c. hot water
1 c. active sourdough starter

optional: I add chopped crystalized ginger

Preheat oven 350ºF. Grease and flour a loaf pan.

Cream brown sugar and butter. Add molasses and egg, beating continuously.

Sift baking soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon together and blend into hot water. Beat this mixture into creamed mixture. Add the flour, then sourdough starter, mixing carefully to maintain a bubbly batter. Fold in chopped ginger.

Bake in prepared loaf pan for 60 to 70 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.

Cool 10 minutes before removing from pan.
