1/2 c chopped nuts
1 c sugar
3/4 c shortening
1 egg
1/2 tbsp vanilla
2 c shifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
Apricot jam

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, shortening and egg.
Add vanilla, flour and salt.
Mix until becomes stiff dough.
Put 3/4 mixture in 10x15 pan.
Pat down firmly - spread in pan.
Spread apricot jam evenly over mixture.
Spread nuts over jam.
Crumble remaining dough over top so jam shows through.
Bake 350º 30-35 minutes until slightly brown.
Cool before cutting.
