2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
4 T. cocoa
2 sticks butter
1 c. water
½ c. buttermilk (or milk w/1 T. vinegar)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Icing:
1 stick butter
4 T. cocoa in 6 T. buttermilk (or milk w/vinegar)
1 box powdered sugar (4 c.)
1 tsp. vanilla
¾ c. chopped pecans
½ c. coconut (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together first four ingredients above. Melt butter and water. Bring to a rapid boil and pour over dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Spread onto 11x16 cookie sheet with sides or jelly roll pan. Bake at 350º for 15-18 minutes.

Start icing as soon as cake goes into oven. Melt butter and cocoa. Bring to a boil. Add in powder sugar, vanilla, pecans, and coconut. Spread on cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
