Ingredients:
Cookie:

1-3/4 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp almond extract
2-3 tbsp half and half
1/2 cup sliced almonds

Icing:
1 cup powdered sugar
1/4 tsp almond extract
2 tsp or so, half and half

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325º.

For cookie dough:

Whisk flour, baking powder together in a small bowl. Beat butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add egg and almond extract, beat until combined. Add flour mixture. Beat until combined. Divide dough into 4 equal pieces. Form each piece of dough into a 12" roll. Place on ungreased baking sheet and flatten with your fingers until roll is 3' wide. (I usually put 2 rolls on each baking sheet, leaving 2"-3" between them. Brush the top of each strip of dough with half and half, sprinkle with sliced almonds. Bake for 12-15 minutes until lightly browned, do not overbake. While warm, slice each baked strip into 1" strips (I like to do them on a diagonal), place pieces on a rack to cool. Drizzle each cookie with the icing while still warm. Let cool, icing will set up. Store in an airtight container, with parchment or waxed paper in between layers.

Icing:

Whisk powdered sugar, almond extract and enough half and half together to form an icing that will easily drizzle across the cookies, but not too thin.

Personal Notes:
These cookies are chewy and delicious. If you want to dress them up for a Christmas cookie tray, sprinkle lightly with some Christmas non-pareils right after drizzling with the icing, before it sets.
