Directions:
Wash and soak dry beans for about 4 hours. Drain

Cover beans with water and boil for 1/2 hour. Last 10 minutes of the half hour, put in a heaping teaspoon of baking soda. It will foam up. Stir and boil hard. Drain. Don't rinse.

Put 1/2 of the beans in the large crockpot. Chop 2 large onions and lay on top of the beans. Add rest of beans and chopped raw bacon.

Sauce: In a saucepan, put ketchup and just as much water. Add dry mustard, salt, sugar and molasses. Stir up and bring to a boil. Pour this sauce over beans in crock pot. It must cover beans. If not add a little more water. Turn on high and cook for 7-8 hours. DO NOT OPEN THE CROCK POT DURING THIS TIME. At the end of time stir with a large spoon.
