1 cup sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 squares melted chocolate (or 6 tablespoons cocoa powder)
1 teaspoon baking soda
Pinch salt
1 cup buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1) Cream together sugar and shortening
2) Mix egg, vanilla, chocolate, salt, and baking soda
3) In a bowl, alternate flour mixture with milk, stirring well after each addition
4) Pour into pan
5) Bake at 475 for approximately 12 minutes
