This recipe from our friend Joy Emmanuel is even trashier than Twinkie Pie, if you can even imagine such a thing. And easier, too. Do tell, I said, experiencing equal parts skepticism and curiosity. “You buy a pecan pie,” she said, “any kind of ready-made, already-cooked pecan pie and a tub of Cool Whip-that’s all that’s in it.” Fine, I said, but putting Cool Whip on pie does not a trashy dessert make. But Joy had a trick lying in wait up her sleeve: “You moosh up the pecan pie with your hands until it’s just a pile of crumbs.” “The whole pie, you just moosh it up?” “Yep,” she said, with the confidence of knowing she was about to flatten me with the next sentence. “Then you dump in the Cool Whip and stir it all up together – it’s Pecan Puddin’!” Well, I had to hand it to her – that is one trashy dessert.
