Follow direction on your Oatmeal box for serving size, except change the following:

Water, change amount to half water and half milk or cream.

Bring water and milk to a simmer; add raisins, coarse chopped pecans or walnuts and chopped dates and 1-2 tsp cinnamon. Simmer until raisins and dates are soft, then add oats. Continue to simmer until liquid is absorbed by the oats.

Remove from heat, cover and let sit for 8-10 minutes.

To serve; place serving in a bowl, add a pat of butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and drizzle with cream.

I learned how to make "Oats", from a Scottish lady I had for a patient. She always used thick cut oats to give it that nutty flavor. I like to use Snoqualmie Falls Oats, they are the best I think for flavor. I dislike mushy oats. Enjoy, it's my families favorite.
