3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. cloves
1/2 t. ginger
2 1/2 c. flour
2 t. baking soda
1/4 c. molasses

ROYAL ICING:
2 egg whites
3-4 c. powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter and add remaining ingredients. Batter will be thick. Spread in 10x15 cookie sheet. Bake at 350' for about 12 minutes. Cool 5 minutes. Cut into shapes. Can dust with powdered sugar or decorate.
For Royal Icing:
Beat egg whites until frothy, then add vanilla and powdered sugar. Pipe onto edges of cookies.
