1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
3 cup flour (mix with baking soda)
1 pinch salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together all dry ingredients. Cream shortening & sugar. Add molasses, eggs & beat well.

Add dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk.

Pour into a buttered jelly roll pan.

Bake @350 for 30-35 min.

Frost with simple butter frosting or cream cheese frosting.
