1 c quick cook oats
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c shortening
1 c warm water, 110º
1 T salt
3 T molasses
1 pkg yeast
5 1/2 c flour

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl combine quick-cooking oats, sugar, salt, shortening, molasses, and water. Sprinkle yeast in warm water and stir until dissolved.

Add 3 cups of sifted flour; beat until smooth. Gradually add the rest of the flour. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead about 10 minutes.

Cover bowl with plastic wrap and set in a warm place to rise, about 2 hours. Punch down and let rise another hour.

Shape into 2 loaves and let rise additional hour or until doubles in size,

Bake 45 minutes.
