6 ½ lb. apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c, brown sugar, lightly packed
1 T. ground cinnamon
½ tsp, nutmeg
¼ tsp ground cloves
¼ tsp. salt
1 T. pure vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
Place the apples in the slow cooker,
Combine sugars and spices and salt. Sprinkle over the apples. Mix well.

Cook in the slow cooker on low for 10 hours, covered and stirring occasionally as the mixture is thickened and and dark brown.

Uncover. Add vanilla and continue cooking for another 2 hours, uncovered.

Use an immersion blender to smooth the apple butter.

Spoon mixture into containers, cover. Refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze.

Serve on breads, muffins, sweet potato tater tots.
