1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening, sugar and egg. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. Sift together and stir in flour, soda and salt. Chill dough. Drop by teaspoonful about 2 inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle with mixture of sugar and cinnamon (about 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon). Bake at 400º for 8-10 minutes; until set but not brown.
