1 small box of macaroni rings (bowtie pasta can also be used), cooked, drained and cooled
1 chicken cooked and cut-up (2 cans of tuna can be used instead)
1 small onion
1 green pepper
3 or 4 stalks of celery
1½ c. mayonnaise
2 TBSP cider vinegar
3 TBSP sugar
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Chop all vegetables and add them to pasta and chicken in large bowl. Mix mayo, vinegar, sugar and seasonings to make dressing. Stir gently into pasta mixture. Can garnish with green peppers seeded and sliced horizontally.

I remember when my Grandpa Grenier died in 1979 and then my dear Aunt Gloria died in 1982, friends brought food to the house to express their caring and sympathy. This salad was one that was given to us by a family friend. I remember observing this gesture and thinking, "Oh that's what people do when they have a friend who is hurting, they bring food". I learned this lesson as a child in a painful way but have continued the tradition to express my love for others going through a difficult time.
