Directions:Mix sugar and butter, add egg and flavorings. Beat until well blended. Sift dry ingredients (I usually don't do this but instead add a little less flour and do not pack it tight in the measuring cup). Mix together in mixer. Refrigerate dough 2 to 3 hours. Roll out on floured surface and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 375 degrees on ungreased cookie sheet for 7-8 minutes. Remove and cool on a cooling rack. Frost with butter cream frosting. Decorate with holiday sprinkles. |

Notes: I do believe this is our #1 favorite family recipe and tradition dating back to when I was a kid. Brent, Andrew and I would sneak the dough as we were cutting out the cookies and you kids defiantly ate your share over the years! When we lived in Bristow, Virginia Aunt Sharon and Gloria visited us and we spent the day making these for Christmas 2001. And of course Savannah will never forget the year she made a special reindeer cookie of this recipe for Santa and found it in the trash the next morning. :/ We ALWAYS make and decorate at Christmas and usually for Valentines Day and Halloween. However I have made them for St Patrick's Day, the 4th of July and Thanksgiving as well. So many memories and love passed down with this one recipe! #lovemyfam!
