2 c sifted, all-purpose flour
2 1/4 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 c Paresan cheese, grated
1T freshly minced herbs such as oregano, savory, marjoram, rosemary and parsley
1/3 c butter
1 egg
1/2 c buttermilk

Directions:

Preheat oven to 425º. Lightly grease a baking sheet.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, herbs and cheese; mix well. Add butter in chunks and cut into dry ingredients with a pasty blender until it resembles coarse meal.

Mix egg and buttermilk together and add to the dry ingredients. Mix well until a soft dough forms a ball.

Roll dough onto a floured surface, pat into a circle 1/2 inch thick. Cut circle into 6-8 wedges and place on baking sheet.

Bake 12-15 minute or until toothpick comes out clean and they are brown and well risen.
