2/3 cup Hershey's cocoa
3 cups sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla

Lightly grease an eight or 9-inch pan.
Thoroughly combine the dry ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Stir in the milk. Bring to a bubbly boil on medium heat, constantly stirring—boil without stirring to a 234° (soft-ball stage). Do not rest the bulb of the candy thermometer on the bottom of the saucepan.
Remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Do not stir.
Cool at room temperature to 110°. Beat with a wooden spoon until the fudge thickens and loses its gloss.
Quickly spread in the pan.

This recipe is the same one that used to be on the Hershey's cocoa box. When we were first married, Jimmy made this fudge recipe quite often. Yes, that's true!
