Ingredients:
3 Tbsp. yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 c. warm water
2 c. scalded milk
1 c. sugar
2 c. butter
6 eggs
3/4 Tbsp. salt
10 c. flour
Filling
1 c. chopped dates
1-1/2 c. water
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. corn starch
1 Tbsp. butter
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. cinnamon
Glaze-
2 lbs. powdered sugar
1 Tbsp. oil
2 tsp. lemon flavoring
2 Tbsp. canned milk or milk

Directions:
Directions:
In a small bowl mix warm water, sugar and yeast. In a small saucepan heat milk, sugar and butter, cool. Add the two together and mix, then add 6 eggs which have been whisked. Next add 5 cups of flour and mix for about 10 minutes, then add 3/4 Tbsp. salt and rest of flour or enough to form a soft dough. Let rise until double, about an hour.

Make filling in a small saucepan with dates water, vinegar, salt and sugar. Mix cornstarch with 1/4 cup water and add to mixture to thicken. Add 1 Tbsp. butter, 1 cup chopped nuts, 1 tsp. lemon juice, and 2 tsp. cinnamon. Let cool. Make glaze with ingredients and add water to thin if necessary.

Separate dough into 5 pieces. Roll each into a rectangle. Spread first with butter and then with filling. Roll up like a cinnamon roll and then form a ring, then slice 3/4 of the way through. Take each cut piece and twist to expose the filling and continue around. Do this with all 5 balls. Let rise and bake. Let cool and glaze. Now give some to your neighbors... they will love you!

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Grandma Jean made this every Christmas and gave to the neighbors. Her next door neighbor- Aunt Renee' Williams recipe-she called it an English tea ring.
