Cream together:
1/2 shortening
1 stick butter
Then add
5 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups sugar.

Add:
2 cups flour and 1 tsp. soda mixed together
5 egg whites
1 cup buttermilk
Beat well then add 1 small can of coconut

Directions:
Directions:
Pour into 3 (9-inch) greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350º for 25-40 minutes. Cool then Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.

Frosting
1 ox powdered sugar
1 (8 oz.) pkg cream cheese
1 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
Cream softened cream cheese and butter, add sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Fold in 1 cup chopped pecans and frost cake.
