1 c. lard (you can try shortening but lard really keeps them soft)
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 T. vinegar + enough milk to = 1 cup (or 1 c. sour milk)
2 t. baking soda
1 t. baking powder
1 T. vanilla
1/2 t. salt
Flour - "enough to handle" - I came up with approximately 5-7 cups of flour.

Refrigerate if wanted. Roll out dough to approximately 1/4" thick. Cut out cookies. Bake at 375º for 12 - 15 minutes. Cool on wire rack and frost.

This was my Great Grandmother Amelia's recipe. She used to put a raisin topping on the cookies but I wasn't a big fan so I found a frosting recipe instead. These make great cut out Christmas cookies.
