1 cup sugar
4½ Tbsp cornstarch
3 cans tart cherries
¼ tsp almond extract
A lot of cinnamon
1 Tbsp butter
2 pie crusts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º F. Drain the cherries, keeping 1½ cans of juice. In a saucepan combine the cherry juice, cornstarch and sugar. Combine with a whisk. Cook over a medium heat until thickened. Remove from heat, gently stir in cherries, cinnamon, and almond extract. Prick bottom of pie shell, pour in cherries, dot with butter. Decorate the top crust to vent and lay on the top of the pie, or add crust and then vent. Seal the top and bottom crust, sprinkle top with sugar. Bake 30 to 40 minutes. Check crust sides after about 15 minutes to add deflector to prevent over-growing.
