½ cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 (20 oz) can pineapple slices
1 white cake mix
⅓ cup oil (or amount listed on your box mix)
3 egg whites (or 2 whole eggs or amount listed on your box mix)
12 maraschino cherries (or more if desired)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º
2. Place butter into a 9x13 cake pan and place the pan in the oven to melt the butter.
3. Remove the pan when the butter has melted.
4. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the melted butter in the pan.
5. Drain the pineapples and set juice aside.
6. Place the well drained pineapples evenly over the brown sugar.
7. Remove the stems from the cherries and place one into the center of each pineapple ring.
8. Prepare the cake mix using the pineapple juice in place of any water called for in the recipe on the box. If there is not enough pineapple juice add enough water to equal the amount called for on the box.
9. Gently pour the batter over the pineapple and cherries and smooth the batter out.
10. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean.
11. Allow to rest for no more than 5 minutes then invert the cake onto a serving platter.
