1 c scalded milk
1/2 c sugar
1 t salt
1/2 c shortening
3 eggs
2 cake yeasts
2 T lukewarm water
1/2 t sugar
4 c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Pour milk over first amount of sugar, salt, and shortening. Cool and add the eggs.

Add yeast, water, and second amount of sugar. Add flour.

Let rise until doubled.

Divide into 3 parts. Roll each part into a large disc that is 1/4 inch thick. Cut each circle into 12 wedges. Beginning at the wide end roll tightly toward the point. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and curve into a half moon shape.

Let rise again until doubled. Glaze (see helpful tips in beginning of book). Bake in a moderate oven for about 25 minutes.
