Ingredients: 2 1/4 Cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp Baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 Cup (2 sticks) real butter, softened (room temperature, not melted) 3/4 Cups granulated sugar 3/4 Cups brown sugar packed (DARK) 1 tsp Vanilla extract (REAL) 2 Large eggs 2 Cups (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions:Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each egg. Add baking soda, salt, 3/4 cups flour, beating in gradually. Add remaining 2 cups of flour (1 cup at a time), beating gradually. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop onto ungreased baking sheets by rounded tablespoon, (small round ice cream type scoop). and push the top down SLIGHTLY to make them flatter. Bake for 9-11 minutes, remove to wire racks to cool. |

Notes: Notes from Bev Branekey (recipe originator): Use REAL butter, REAL vanilla, DARK brown sugar, old time cookie sheets (not air-baked, not coated, or dark) Mine (Bev's) are 50 years old. I (Bev) use a mixer because it makes the dough a little lighter and they flatten out better. The time will be up to you. I (Bev) usually do mine exactly 10 minutes, taking them out before they turn brown, if you want them to be a tad soft.
