4 1/4 Lbs.

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup dates, sliced
1 cup seedless golden raisins
⅔ cup butter or margarine
1¼ cups brown sugar (packed)
¼ cup dark molasses
1½ cups hot water

2 eggs
1 pound Dromedary fruits and peels (any other brand)
1 cup chopped nuts

3 cups sifted All-Purpose flour
½ tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

1 cup The Christian Brothers Brandy, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first 6 ingredients. Boil gently for 3 minutes.
Cool to lukewarm in a large mixing bowl, (so eggs added next won't start cooking when added). Beat in 2 eggs. Add fruits and peels and chopped nuts.

Sift flour, spices and leavening agents together.
Add sifted ingredients gradually to fruit mixture, beating well after each addition.

Pour into a 9-inch tube pan, lined with greased wax or brown paper.
Bake in a very slow oven @ 275º F. for 2½ hrs. or until baked.
Remove cake from pan. Cool thoroughly.
Wrap securely in aluminum foil. Store in a cool place.

You may pour ¼ cup of Brandy over it and store wrapped in a Brandy-soaked cheesecloth, if you like the flavor of Brandy or Rum. Will store well for a few weeks, IF it lasts that long.
