1 1/4 cup flour

3 tbsp sugar

1/2 cup butter

Cold water, until dough forms

Dice butter into cubes.

Cut butter into flour and sugar until coarse crumbs. Add water until a dough forms.

Roll into a log and chill.

Slice and chill again before baking at 325F.

Variations

Lemon- add lemon extract to water

Chocolate- add melted chocolate

Tea- add ground tea to dough (black, earl grey, green)

Orange- add orange extract to water

Coffee- use coffee in place of water add mini chocolate chips

Chocolate vanilla swirl- make full recipe of each and roll out into 1/8 in thick then stack and trim edges and roll.

Coffee vanilla checkerboard- flatten each flavor into a rectangle that is 1in thick and 2in wise. Cut lengthwise to make 2 strips 1in x 1in. Use a little water and stack 1 vanilla strip to one coffee strip. Flip one stack upside down so it is opposite the other strip and stick together with water to make a 2x2 checkerboard grid. Chill before slicing.
