2 lbs. stew meat
1½ C. sliced carrots
1½ C. sliced celery
1½ C. diced potatoes
1½ frozen pearl onions or diced onion
8 oz. can tomato sauce
2 Tbsp. tapioca
salt & pepper

Directions:

1. Combine all ingredients in covered casserole dish. Do not cook or brown meat first.
2. Bake at 250º for 5 hours.

A family favorite that "cooks itself" is oven stew. It can be prepared earlier in the morning and placed in the preset oven. No water is added; the meat juices and tomato sauce combine to make a delicious gravy.
